Instructions

1. Cut 1 piece of each Clear Glass and White Opaque piece of glass 8” x 8” Square. Clean with Glass Cleaner of choice. Allow to dry.
2. Place some SG-401 Black Designer Liner on a palette and sprinkle with AC-310 Silkscreen Medium. Using a palette knife mix color and medium to the consistency of sour cream. If the mix is too thin add more AC-310 Silkscreen Medium or if it is too thick add more Designer Liner to the mixture. Too thin of a mixture will bleed under the screen and give you a blurred image. Too thick of a mixture will make it hard for the product to penetrate through the holes in the screen and give blank areas in your screen.

3. Position the bear screen shiny side down on a piece of paper. Hold in place, starting from the center out, rub the mixture on the screen with your finger. Lift a corner up to check if you are applying enough color. Remove the screen and wash with water. Do not let the color dry in the screen. This will cause damage to the screen. Allow the color to dry on the paper.
4. Make another mixture with SG-402 White Designer Liner and AC-310 Silkscreen Medium just as above, but add a drop or two of red food coloring. Using the same bear screen, but making sure it is clean and dry, repeat step three (screening image) onto the white opaque glass. Once the screened image on the glass has dried, fill in the bear with SG-406 Brown and allow to dry.
5. Cut out the bear image on the paper and wet the back of the paper with water. Place over the brown bear on the glass to cover it up. This will block out the bear so that the background and other areas can be painted easily.
6. Onto a palette, pour out some SG-404 Blue. Wet your sea wool sponge and wring out as much water as you can. Place in a paper towel and wring again to get all the water out. This is called conditioning your sponge. Now take your conditioned sponge and pounce in the SG-404 Blue Designer Liner. Then find a clean spot on your palatte to pounce and evenly distribute color onto your sponge. Now sponge the blue to the white glass leaving white areas. Allow to dry.
7. On a palette, mix enough SG-401 Black and SG-402 White to make a gray to be used to roll the glaze over the tree branch stencil. Fill the 2” roller with the gray mix making sure that the color is evenly distributed throughout the roller but not dripping wet. Place the stencil over the plate and roll the gray color mixture over the stencil to make the wooded area around the bear. Allow to dry.
8. Using a conditioned and cleaned sea wool sponge, apply SG-405 Green to the sponge the same way you did the blue. Sponge in some grass area under and around the bear. Allow to dry.
9. Using AC-213 Sponge-on-a-Stick, load the sponge with SG-401 Black Designer Liner making sure not to overload the applicator. Too much color will result in a blurred messy image. Tap the color onto the ST-367 Leafy Boarder Stamp in an up-and-down motion, not side to side. Turn the Leafy Boarder stamp over onto the bottom area of the glass and press down on the stamp so that the stamp is making contact with the area you want stamped. Make sure not to rub back and forth or this will cause a double image. Apply Leaves all over the bottom of the glass in a random area using this method. Allow to dry.
10. Lift off the paper from the bear. Touch up any brown that may have come off the glass and allow drying.
11. Using the thickened SG-401 Black micture, screen the bear over the brown matching up the design. Allow to dry.
12. Place a cleaned clear piece of glass over the designed white glass and place in the kiln for a full fuse.
13. This is the full fuse schedule I used on this piece. *Please remember that any "genergic" schedule is meant as a starting point. Your project, your kiln and your desired results are vall variables that will likely be reasons to adjust this schedule. Remember to fue and anneal for the thickest part of the glass.
