Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of FN-001 to the front and pages of the book vase, apply 1 coat to the rest of the outside of the book vase. Allow to dry.
  3. Cut out two copies of the snowman pattern.
  4. Brush the area on the front of the book with water; place the paper cut out on the space. Press with paper towel to remove excess moisture and air.
  5. Place some SC-31 The Blues; SC-30 Blue Dawn and SC-16 Cotton Tail on a palette.
  6. Using a silk sponge, sponge SC-31 The Blues on the book cover then sponge over with SC-30 Blue Dawn then highlight lightly with SC-16 Cotton Tail.
  7. Remove the paper cut out pattern. Allow to dry.
  8. Place the second cut out snowman in position and place AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper under the pattern and trace on the pattern.
  9. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, float SC-9 Jaded around the edges of the snowman body and scarf.
  10. Using a CB-404 #4 Pointed Round, stipple 2 – 3 coats of the following colors to the scarf and hat as stated: top of hat & scarf - SC-24 Dandelion, SC-5 Tiger Tail then SC-25 Crackerjack Brown; Middle of the hat & Scarf - SC-28 Blue Isle then SC-9 Jaded; Bottom of the hat & scarf - SC-13 Grapel then SC-33 Fruit of the Vine; Highlight with SC-16 Cotton Tail. Bell – SC-24 Dandelion then SC-5 Tiger Tail, highlight with SC-16 Cotton Tail. Buttons on Snowman – SC-28 Blue Isle then SC-9 Jaded , highlight with SC-16 Cotton Tail.
  11. Using a CB-404 #4 Pointed Round, apply 3 coats of SC-22 Carrot Top to the nose. Shade and detail with SC-80 Basketball.
  12. Using a CB-404 #4 Pointed Round, float SC-15 Tuxedo on the hat and scarf for shadows. Do this very lightly.
  13. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply SC-15 Tuxedo to detail the bell, mouth and eyes. Add a dot of SC-16 Cotton Tail for eye highlight.
  14. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, float SC-41 Brown Cow to the pages of the book.
  15. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of FN-031 Corn Flower Blue to the inside of the book. Allow to dry.
  16. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
