Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of FN-001 White to the top of the plate.  Allow to dry.
  3. With Masking Tape, and tape off the areas that will be the blue border.
  4. Punch out snowflakes using snowflake paper punches from plain paper.
  5. Cut out the shape of the snowman and ground, and place onto the plate by brushing the area with water, then pressing down on the paper to attach to the glazed area. Add the paper snowflakes in the sky in the same manor.
  6. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of SC-91 Seabreeze to the sky area. Re-load in SC-91 Seabreeze and SC-9 Jaded and add streaks of color to the sky. Repeat with some SC-76 Cara-bein Blue to the sky areas.
  7. Remove the paper cutouts and snowflakes. Clean up any color that may have seeped under the paper.
  8. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply 1 heavy coat of SC-14 Java Bean for the arms. Apply 1 heavy coat of SC-75 Orange-A-Peel to the nose.
  9. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-76 Cara-bein Blue to the scarf and hatband.  Apply 2 coats of SC-15 Tuxedo to the hat.
  10. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-9 Jaded to the buttons.
  11. Side-load the CB-106 #6 Script Liner with SC-76 Cara-bein Blue and shade the snow area.
  12. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply SC-9 Jaded to add detail to the scarf and add fringe to the scarf. Then with SC-76 Cara-bein Blue add additional fringe to the scarf.
  13. Using a CB-110 #10 Liner with SC-15 Tuxedo and detail the snowman, buttons, arms, nose, and the snow bank and add the eyes and mouth.
  14. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply SC-26 Green Thumb to add the string for the lights.
  15. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply SC-74 Hot Tamale to and add lights to the string, followed with SC-76 Cara-bein Blue, SC-33 Fruit of the Vine, SC-75 Orange-A-Peel and SC-26 Green Thumb.
  16. Remove the masking tape.
  17. Place the paper punched snowflakes to the border and attach them as in step #5 and then place a piece of damp kitchen string to make the snowflake garland. Apply 1 coat of FN-001 White over the string to hold it in place using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner.
  18. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of SC-76 Cara-bein Blue to the border areas. Before the color dries, remove the string and paper snowflakes to avoid chipping of the color.
  19. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of FN-009 Black to the back and edges of the plate.  Allow to dry
  20. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 05/06.
