Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Place some FN-001 White into a small cup and add a little bit of water to slightly dilute it (about 3 parts glaze and 1 part water).  It should be the consistency of a coffee cream.  Pour this into the egg vase and roll around to completely coat the interior of the egg vase.  Drain out the excess glaze and keep egg vase inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Allow to dry.
  3. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of FN-001 White to the outside of the egg vase. Allow to dry.
  4. Place egg vase on a banding wheel and center. Divide the egg into three sections about 2 ½” apart. This will make three bands.
  5. Punch out 9 circles of each of the round paper punches.
  6. Measure down 2” from the top. Place 9 of the 1 ¼” round papers to create a scalloped edge. This is done by dipping the circles into water and then placing them onto the egg.
  7. Repeat on the bottom with the 1 ½” round circles.
  8. Trace around the circles, then remove the paper circles.
  9. Punch out 27 ovals. Place on the egg the same way as above with water. Place 9 ovals on the top scallops and 9 ovals on the bottom scallops. Hold 9 ovals aside for the center.
  10. Trace around the ovals in the scallops.
  11. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 3 coats of SC-24 Dandelion to the scalloped areas. Refer to photo.
  12. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 3 coats of SP-245 Speckled My Blue Heaven to the ovals.
  13. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 3 coats of SP-201 Speckled Pink-A-Boo to the area below and above the SC-24 Dandelion scallops.
  14. Place the remaining 9 ovals to the center of the egg with water.
  15. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of SC-85 Orkid to the center area of the egg over the paper ovals. Remove the paper ovals after the last coat of SC-85 Orkid has lost it’s shine.
  16. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 3 coats of SP-245 Speckled My Blue Heaven to the ovals.
  17. Center the egg vase on the banding wheel.  Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply a band of SC-24 Dandelion above and below the SC-85 Orkid. Add a dot of SC-24 Dandelion in between the ovals using the end of a brush handle.  Allow to dry.
  18. Stilt And fire to shelf cone 06.
