Instructions

  1. Place the MB-1056 Funky Heart Dish bisque on the glass upside down and trace the shape with a sharpie. Do this with both the White and Clear glass. Allow sharpie to dry.
  2. Using the ring saw, cut out the traced image from both sheets of glass. Hand cutting can also be done, yet going around the tail may be tricky and might crack your glass in half.
  3. Clean glass with cleaner of choice. Allow to dry.
  4. On a palette, with a palette knife, mix SG-403 Red Designer Liner with AC-310 Silkscreen Medium to the consistency of sour cream. If the mix is too thin add more AC-310 Silkscreen Medium or if it is too thick add more Desinger Liner. Too thin of a mixture will bleed under the screen and give you a blurred image. Too thick of a mixture will make it hard for the product to penetrate through the holes in the screen and give blank areas in your screen.
  5. Position the rose from DSS-0112 Flowers screen, shiny side down, on the white glass sheet. Hold in place, starting from the center out, rub the thickened SG-403 Red mixture on the screen with your finger. Lift a corner up to check if you are applying enough color. Remove the screen and wash with water. Do not let the color dry in the screen as this will cause damage to the screen.
  6. Repeat screening the image all over the white glass overlapping to fill the area. Allow to dry.
  7. Place the clear glass over the white glass. Cut a piece of fiber paper to size and place in kiln. Place the glass on fiber paper and fire to a full fuse.
    • Please remember that any "generic" schedule is meant as a starting point. Your project, your kiln and your desired results are all variables that will likely be reasons to adjust this schedule. Remember to fuse and anneal for the thickest part of the glass.
Full Fuse Two Pieces of Glass:

Segment Rate Temp Hold 1 300 900 15 2 500 1100 0 3 100 1250 120 4 9999 1475 10 5 9999 960 60 6 100 800 0 7 200 700 0 8 400 100 0

Now to slump your fused piece.

  1. Drill a small hole in the bottom of the MB-1056 Funky Heart Dish using a Dremel and a small ceramic bit.
  2. Prepare the mold with brush-on glass mold release and allow to dry.
  3. Clean your fused heart and allow to dry. Place on dry MB-1056 that has the mold release on it matching up the design so that the shapes match up.
  4. Slump the Heart using this schedule. Please remember that any "generic" schedule is meant as a starting point. Your project, your kiln and your desired results are all variables that will likely be reasons to adjust this schedule. Remember to fuse and anneal for the thickest part of the glass.
