Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of SC-76 Cara-Bein-Blue to the inside of the book vase.
  3. Using a CB-425 ½” Oval, apply SC-14 Java Bean sporadically to the outside of the book vase in an up and down brush stroke. While it is still wet add SC-6 Sunkissed in the same manor. Blend the colors in some areas. You may choose to go back and add more of the SC-14 Java Bean until the color is satisfactory. Allow to dry.
  4. Place some SC-15 Tuxedo on a palette or tile sprinkle with AC-310 Silkscreen Medium. Using a palette knife mix to the consistency of thick peanut butter otherwise it will bleed. If the mix is to thin add more AC-310 Silkscreen Medium or if to thick add more SC-15 Tuxedo to thin.  You can also use SG-401 Black Designer liner for more color saturation
  5. Cut out the anchor and compass shape from the DSS-100 Designer Silkscreen - Nautical.
  6. Once the Stroke & Coat is dry place the screen where you would like and using your finger add the mixture in a circular motion to the screen grain side up. Clean the screen once you are finished.
  7. Using a CB-404 #4 Pointed Round, add SC-74 Hot Tamale along the edges of the binding of the book to give it an accent color.
  8. Make sure the screened on images are dry.
  9. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, add color onto the images. SC-6 Sunkissed was used with a little water to the anchor. SC-74 Hot Tamale with a little water was used on the compass.
  10. Use SG-401 Black Designer Liner to write the title of the book on the front.
  11. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1- 2 coats of S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing to the front of the book.
  12. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of FN-204 Mudpuddle Brown to the pages of the book vase. Allow to dry.
  13. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
