Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of FN-008 Brown to the front of the plate.  Apply 3 coats to the back of the plate..   Allow to dry.
  3. Transfer the design onto the piece using AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper and a pencil.
  4. Condition a CB-110 #10/0 Liner by: dampen the brush in water and squeeze out any excess water. Load the brush with AC-525 Brush Cleaner then squeeze between a paper towel.
  5. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply 1 fine heavy coat of AC-302 Wax Resist to the lines of the pattern.   The width of the brush is the perfect width of line for the wax.  Keep the lines even and make sure they attach to the other lines of the design.  Don’t leave any spaces in the lines of the design.   Allow to dry. Wash the brush with warm water.
  6. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of EL-132 Rust Red to the flowers and then apply 1 coat of SC-75 Orange-A-Peel to the centers of the flowers.
  7. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of EL-128 Wheat to the birds chest and beaks.
  8. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of EL-130 Sea Green to the birds head wings and tails then apply 1 coat of SC-11 Blue Yonder on the wings only.
  9. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner and a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply 2 coats of EL-131 Turtle Shell to the leaves and the fern leaves then apply 1 coat of SC-26 Green Thumb.
  10. Using a CB-10 #10/0 Liner, apply SC-16 Cotton Tail to the eye area and then SC-15 Tuxedo to the eye.
  11. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan and a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of EL-125 Sahara Sands to the background of the piece. Apply a third coat only around but not up to the design to lighten that area (refer to photo).
  12. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06.
