Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Place some FN-009 Black into a small cup and add a little bit of water to slightly dilute it (about 3 parts glaze and 1 part water).  It should be the consistency of a coffee cream.  Pour this into the vase and roll around to completely coat the interior of the vase.  Drain out the excess glaze and keep vase inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Allow to dry.
  3. Using the ½” masking tape, apply vertically on both sides of the vase to divide where will be pink and where will be white. Try to have about ⅔ of the vase pink and leave the rest white.
  4. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 4 even coats of SC-95 Pinkie Swear to one side of the tapeline.
  5. Remove the tape when the last coat of the SC-95 Pinky Swear looses its shine.
  6. You can then apply more tape horizontally around the neck about ½” away from each other to make 2 lines.
  7. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-15 Tuxedo between the tapelines.
  8. Remove the tape when the last coat of the SC-15 Tuxedo looses its shine. Allow to dry.
  9. With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, transfer the flower design onto the vase. You can change the sizes of the flowers if you’d like and if you’re feeling up to it you could even freehand the flowers on because it is such a freeform design.
  10. Once the flowers are on you may proceed with SG-401 Black Designer Liner over all of the bare spots and use SG-402 White Designer Liner over the pink and black parts.
  11. Allow to dry COMPLETLEY or the clear glaze will make it smear
  12. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing to the outside of the piece or clear glaze of choice.  Allow to dry.
  13. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
