Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of FN-014 Antique White to the top of the plate. Allow to dry.
  3. Cut out the owl pattern. You will need both the positive and the negative parts of the pattern.
  4. Apply the negative pattern to the plate using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan with water. Press the pattern a sheet of paper towel to help adhere the pattern and absorb any excess water from under the pattern.
  5. Eyeballing the chest and head area. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply CMM-27 Kiwi to the head and chest area of the owl. Apply CMM-29 Grasshopper to the wing, feet and around the head area. Apply 2 coats. Allow to dry.
  6. With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper trace the main parts of the owl using the positive pattern. Note: no need to trace all the small circles on the chest.
  7. Using the SG-401 Designer Liner, outline and detail the owl. Do not try to fill in the larger solid areas with the bottle. Place a couple drops of SG-401 Designer Liner onto a piece of felt ribbon. Using the Metal Tip, dip the round end into the color then onto the chest area to create the circles on the chest. Place some SG-401 Designer Liner on a tile and using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner fill in the solid areas with 1 coat.
  8. Position the positive pattern back onto the plate.
  9. Using the AC-213 Sponge on a Stick load the sponge with CMM-19 Banana Boat. Tap the CMM-19 Banana Boat onto the ST-113 Circulate Stamp then holding the pattern in place press the stamp gently onto the background of the piece. Allow to dry.
  10. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of S-2101 Crystal Clear brushing to the owl area only.
  11. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 –3 coats of FN-009 Black to the back of the plate. Allow to dry.
  12. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 05/06.
