Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Place some FN-0014 Antique White into a small cup and add a little bit of water to slightly dilute it (about 3 parts glaze and 1 part water).  It should be the consistency of a coffee cream.  Pour this into the vase and roll around to completely coat the interior of the vase.  Drain out the excess glaze and keep the vase inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Allow to dry.
  3. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of FN-014 Antique White to the foot of the vase.
  4. With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, transfer the pattern to the front of the vase.
  5. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 1-2 coats of SG-501 Sculpting Medium to the areas that are gray on the pattern. Keep the edges bold and more raised near the edges of the petals and more blended towards the centers.
  6. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 1 coat of FN-032 Canton Jade to the leaves and stem. Add in 1 coat of SC-7 Leapin’ Lizard to some spots to create some dimension.
  7. Thin SC-40 Blueberry Hill and using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply the wash to the petals; be sure to be aware of your brush strokes and brush with the lines of the petals. Build up some areas with 2-3 coats to add texture and dimension.
  8. Using a combination of all 3 brushes, apply 3 coats of FN-008 Brown to the rest of the vase.
  9. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply 1 coat of SC-6 Sunkissed to the center of the flower and 1 coat of SC-15 Tuxedo to outline everything.  Allow to dry.
  10. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
