Instructions


  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Place some FN-019 Dark Blue into a small cup and add a little bit of water to slightly dilute it (about 3 parts glaze and 1 part water).  It should be the consistency of a coffee cream.  Pour this into the book vase and roll around to completely coat the interior of the book vase.  Drain out the excess glaze and keep book vase inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Allow to dry.
  3. Cut out the rabbit without the carrot from the pattern.
  4. Position the cut out rabbit on the book roughly trace around the shape.
  5. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of CG-975 Sky Diamonds on the area.
  6. When dry, brush with water and place on the paper cut out.  Press down using a paper towel to make sure to eliminate any gaps in the paper around the edges.
  7. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of FN-019 Dark Blue to the cover of the book.
  8. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 – 3 coats of SC-16 Cotton Tail to the pages of the book.
  9. Using a AB-834 3/4” Base Coat Brush to dry brush SC11 Blue Yonder to the sky, adding in some SC-16 Cotton Tail for highlights.  Brush on 2 coats in a criss-cross direction.
  10. Using a AB-834 3/4” Base Coat Brush, dry brush SC-26 Green Thumb to the foreground, apply 2 coats. Continue all colors on the spine to the back of the cover.
  11. Remove the paper, pencil in the detail of the rabbit, tail, inside of ear, nose, eye, mouth.
  12. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-16 Cotton Tail to the inside of the ear and the tail, and eye.
  13. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 1 coat of CG-975 Sky Diamonds to the rabbits body.
  14. Add dots of SC-16 Cotton Tail and some smaller dots of SC-35 Gray Hare to the rabbits body, stay away from the detail lines.
  15. Using aCB-110 #10/0 Liner, outline the detail lines with SC-15 Tuxedo, brush in Tuxedo nose and mouth and pupil.
  16. Pencil in the carrot and bird.
  17. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2-3 coats of SC-6 Sunkissed to the bird, outline and detail with SC-15 Tuxedo.
  18. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-75 Orange-A-Peel to the carrot, and SC-26 Green Thumb for the carrot top, outline with SC-15 Tuxedo.
  19. Thin SC-15 Tuxedo like water then brush over the book pages, let dry, then remove some to antique with a damp sponge. If necessary clear glaze the pages. Allow to dry.
  20. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06.
