Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply 1 coat of SG-401 Black Designer Liner to the line work of the antlers on the front of the mug and the deer butt on the back.
  3. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply 1 coat of SC-15 Tuxedo to write the word “DAD” in between the antlers. (the SC-15 Tuxedo will turn brown)
  4. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-25 Crackerjack Brown to the deer butt. Allow to dry.
  5. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of SW-002 Matte Clear to the center section of the mug.
  6. Apply a wash of thinned SC-76 Cara-bein Blue over the SW-002 Matte Clear.
  7. Using a mix of both the CB-604 #4 Soft Fan and the CB-106 #6 script liner, apply 3 coats of SW-121 Smoke to the inside of the mug and to the top, bottom rims and handle of the mug. Be sure to recede your coats at the bottom of each section. So, when you are finished there are actually only 2 coats around the bottom half of each rim section and 3 coats near the top because they will run. Especially on the handle! Allow to dry.
  8. With a damp sponge, wipe off any excess glaze off the foot of mug.
  9. Place on a high-fired kiln washed kiln shelf.
  10. Do Not Stilt and make sure the handle of the mug is not hanging over the kiln shelf.
  11. Fire to shelf cone 5/6.
