Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Cut out the pattern of the submarine, and trace around it with a pencil on the tile.
  3. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 1 coat of SC-6 Sunkissed to the submarine area.
  4. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, wet the area with water and place the paper on to mask out the background.
  5. In the AC-222 Writer Tip Bottle, thin SC-31 The Blues with water 1:1.
  6. Using the plastip only, apply the color by squeezing the bottle and quickly move in few circles onto the tile.  With a damp sponge, pat the color to mute and to tint the remaining space on the tile.
  7. With a stiff toothbrush, spatter the tile with the thinned color.
  8. Remove the paper pattern.
  9. With a pencil sketch on the coral design,
  10. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 3 coats of SC-89 Cutie Pie Coral to the coral. Allow to dry.
  11. Outline the coral with SG-401 Black Designer Liner, and make small dots on the coral with the Designer Liner.
  12. Make sure that the SC-6 Sunkissed is dry before going on to the next step. If the color is wet it will lift off when the silkscreen is applied but it can be done on damp glaze, if the screen is lifted in sections off the surface after screening.
  13. Place some SC-15 Tuxedo on a palette or tile, sprinkle with AC-310 Silkscreen Medium. Using a palette knife mix to the consistency of thick peanut butter. If the mix is to thin, add more AC-310 Silkscreen Medium or if to thick, add more SC-15 Tuxedo to thin.
  14. Place the submarine silkscreen over the SC-6 Sunkissed submarine, taking care to try to line it up exact. Rub the screen with your fingers or a squeegee with the thickened SC-15 Tuxedo. Lift the screen back in sections as you screen if the SC-6 Sunkissed is damp, as the screen could lift the glaze.  Allow to dry.
  15. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of S-2101 Crystal Clear to the top of the tile.  Allow to dry.
  16. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
