Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using the Soft Fan, apply 2 heavy, even coats of FN-211 Sheer Blue, brushing in one direction.
  3. While the glaze is wet, spatter with thinned SC-11 Blue Yonder using a stiff toothbrush. Let Dry.
  4. Using a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, trace the pattern including the flowers onto the tile. The flower pattern will be the guide for the silkscreen application.
  5. Using the Script Liner, apply one of SC-2 Melon-choly to the small flowers, SC-11 Blue Yonder to one of the flowers and SC-97 Cant-elope to the remaining flowers.
  6. Apply a contrasting color to the space marked for the center of each flower.
  7. Let dry, before applying the screens.
  8. Meanwhile, use the Script Liner to apply one coat of SC-11 Blue Yonder to the bird.
  9. Using the Script Liner, apply one coat of CG-718 Caprice Blue, with crystals to the body of the bird. Apply fewer crystals around the eye, wing and tail feathers. Apply a second coat of SC-11 Blue Yonder on the wing and the tail feathers.
  10. On a palette, with a palette knife, thicken SC-15 Tuxedo with AC-310 Silkscreen Medium to the consistency of peanut butter.
  11. Using DSS-0112 Floral (shiny side down), align the flowers the painted surface of the tile. Rub the thickened Tuxedo over the screen to the marked area of the flower, remove and gently wash.
  12. Repeat for all the flowers.
  13. Using the Mini Liner, outline the bird with SC-15 Tuxedo.
  14. Use the Script Liner to fill in the branch with diluted SC-15 Tuxedo.
  15. Use the Mini Liner to fill in the eye with SC-11 Blue Yonder and the pupil with Tuxedo.
  16. Outline the eye with SC-15 Tuxedo.
  17. Fire to cone 05/06.
