Instructions

  1. With a rolling pin on canvas, roll out a piece of moist clay ¼" thick between wooden slats.
  2. Form over the slump side of CD-914 Slump Hump Platter. Trim off excess.
  3. Use the spiral shapes from CD-1072 Spiral Press tools and press into clay. Then cut out the shape and Slip attach to the rim of the plate. Allow to thoroughly dry.
  4. Bisque fire to shelf cone 04.
  5. Using an AB-834 ¾" Base Coat, apply 1 coat of SS-138 Flat Black to the entire plate. Allow to dry.
  6. Using a AB-834 ¾" Base Coat, apply 2 Coats of SS-317 Turquoise to the center area of the plate.
  7. Press in the jute or linen thread into the wet SS-317 Turquoise, then brush back over with another coat of the SS-317 Turquoise. Allow to dry.
  8. Using an AB-834 ¾" Base Coat, apply 2 Coats of MM-102 Copper Metallic to the entire plate. Allow the first coat to dry well.
  9. Apply the 2nd coat of MM-102 Copper Metallic, and while still wet, spatter the plate with MM-202 Green Patina. Pull off the jute or linen thread while the MM-102 Copper Metallic is still damp. Allow to dry.

  11. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner apply the MM-103 Dark Bronze on the spiral shapes to give it more form. Allow to dry.
