  1. Roll clay ¼" thick between ¼" wood slats. Slump clay over the CD-776 Circle Hump mold. Press into shape with a sand bag. Trim off excess with a needle tool, leaving on the flange.
  2. Trace on the eyes, nose and lip placement. Add clay to the circle shap to form these shapes. Then, cut out the eye and mouth opening.
  3. Use the square spiral from CD-1078 Design Press Tools to press in all around the flange. Press in the small square spiral into the flange as shown.
  4. Use the small round spiral from CD-1075 Small Design Press Tools to press in the face around the eye and cheek area as shown.
  5. Remove from mold when firm enough to avoid cracking.
  6. Allow to completely dry.
  7. Bisque fire to shelf cone 06.
  8. Thin EL-120 Black Ice with water and brush over all the detail areas using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan. Remove excess glaze with a damp sponge to antique.
  9. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2-3 coats of SC-55 Yella Bout It to the face and nose.
  10. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-76 Cara-bein Blue to the eyes and 2 coats of SC-74 Hot Tamale to the lips. Apply 2-3 coats of SC-6 Sunkissed to the raised stripe on forehead, under chin and around edge of flange. Decorate flange with SC-75 Orange-A-Peel and SC-74 Hot Tamale.
