Instructions

  1. Using a rolling pin on canvas, roll out clay ¼" thick. Roll a large enough piece to fit over the CD-915 Slump & Hump Plate mold. Press in place with a sand bag. Trim excess clay with a needle tool.
  2. Use the round spiral from CD-1072 Spiral Press Tools to decorate the edge. Roll a medium size clay ball. Press the spiral into the ball and pull the excess clay down over the mold. Rip off the edges of the clay for a ragged edge. Attach with a clay slurry or slip to the rim of the plate.
  3. Allow piece to completly dry. When dry, clean with a wet brush or gently with a damp sponge.
  4. Bisque fire to shelf cone 04.
  5. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of SC-15 Tuxedo to the plate and the underside of the spirals.
  6. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of EL-120 Black Ice to the tops of the spiral shapes.
  7. Before the last coat is completely dry, sponge off some of the Black Ice from the tops of the spirals. It should look dirty.
  8. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-16 Cotton Tail to the white area of the spiral. Leave the deep detail of the spiral EL-120 Black Ice.
  9. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply1 coat of S-2714 Herb Garden to the SC-15 Tuxedo areas of the dish. Allow to dry.
  10. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06.
