Instructions

1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean BT-910 Synthetic sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
2. Using CB-604 #4 Fan Brush, apply FN-001 White. Allow glaze to lose its shine between coats. Apply two coats.
3. With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, transfer the pattern to the ware.
4. On a tile/ palette place some SC-15 Tuxedo. Thin with water to an inky consistency to where the paint has a transparency but is still black in appearance. It is always better to apply multiple thin coats rather than one heavy coat on this portion of the pattern.
5. Using CB-110 #10/0 Liner loaded with the thinned SC-15 Tuxedo to paint in the outline of the woman. Fill in the hair as well with the thinned color. Using more concentrated SC-15 Tuxedo, paint in the eye feature and darken the hair.
6. Place some SC-3 Wine About It, SC-40 Blueberry Hill and SC-53 Purple Haze onto a tile/palette.
7. Using CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, pick up some of one of the colors and make some open “x” strokes to the area behind the girl. You can tip the brush with one or more of the colors as you do this section. There should be areas of mottled and blended colors to the strokes. Make sure you apply some color between the arm and back of the girl.
8. Using the CB-110 Liner to apply some line marks of SC-24 Dandelion.
9. To the dress portion apply some broad strokes of SC-40 Blueberry Hill from the top of the waist downward following the contour of the dress. To the folds in the dress streak in some SC-3 Wine about it. Don’t be afraid to have white skip areas showing in the painted color. This only adds interest and a component of the overall design.
10. To the area to the lower right of the dress apply some SC-3 Wine About It, SC-23 Jack O’Lantern and SC-24 Dandelion in the same manner as in step #7. Steak in some lines of SC-15 Tuxedo.
11. With CB-110 #10/0 Liner, paint a crosshatch design using SC-40 Blueberry Hill to the bodice of the dress.
12. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, paint in the “Paris” lettering in the pattern with 3 coats of SC-73 Candy Apple Red. Apply 1 coat to the lips and dot in the earring on the girl.
13. Using SG-401 Designer Liner Black to sketch in the Eifel Tower portion of the design. The application of the Designer Liner is more effective if the lines are kept free and open. This would include skips in the line and not trying to make the lines perfect. Draw in some free flowing movement lines in the dress to give the impression of folds to the dress.
14. Using a dry AC-212 Sponge on a Stick to apply SC-15 Tuxedo and SC-14 Java Bean to the various postal stamps and place them in a pleasing manner around the tower portion of the design.
15. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan and a CB-404 #4 Pointed Round to apply 1-2 coats of CG-969 Floral Fantasy to the dress. Keep the crystals more concentrated towards the waist of the dress. Paint the glaze as the dress material would fall and trailing the crystals out over the previously painted colors of Stroke & Coat. Allow to dry.
16. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
