Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired cone 04 Bisque moisten a clean sponge and wipe Bisque to remove any dust.
  2. With a rolling pin on canvas, roll out a piece of moist clay ¼" thick between wooden slats and then with your cutter, cut out a few leaves and roll out a few berries.
  3. Allow to completely dry out and then bisque fire to shelf cone 04. (Make a few extra and place in a box until you require them, this will save you time.)
  4. Take a pencil and draw out your design onto your bisque piece.
  5. Fill the AC-223 Large Writer Tip with clay slip.
  6. Using the AC-223 Large Writter Tip tool begin to outline your pattern, taking your time with this and then allow to dry.
  7. Using a CB-406 #6 Pointed Round, begin by painting your leaves on your piece and the one's that you have made and fired. Blend SC-8 Just Froggy, starting at the base of your leaves with SC-52 Toad-ily Green in the middle, and then blending SC-78 Lime Light at the tips. Apply 2 coats so that the blending of the colors looks natural. On the tips of some of the leaves, blend in some SC-14 Java Bean.
  8. Continue to paint the holly berries with SC-74 Hot Tamale and finish them off with a dot of SC-15 Tuxedo.
  9. Using a CB-618 #8 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing to the candleholder and the hand made leaves and berries. Leave the base unglazed.
  10. When they are dry, place your hand made pieces in the desired position on the top of the candleholder, leaving enough space for your candle.
  11. Fire to shelf cone 06, which will fuse your pieces together.
  12. When finished cut cork pieces to fit the base of the pedestal.
