Instructions

  1. Cut 2 clear pieces of glass to 14" x 7½" sizes, and clean with isopropanol or glass cleaner.
  2. Tape pattern to the underside of one of the pieces of glass to keep it stationary.
  3. Use SG-401 Black Designer Liner to outline the rachis and barbs of the feathers.  Keep the lines thin: too much product may lead to bubbles forming during firing.
  4. When liner is dry, place the second sheet of glass on top of the design created.
  5. Sprinkle green frit over the vane of the feather; and add yellow, a little blue and red to the eye of the plume.
  6. Sprinkle some orange and red frit to the left side of the glass.
  7. Sprinkle some yellow frit to the right of the red and orange frit leaving room for the blue area
  8. Sprinkle some both blue frit to the right side of the glass.
  9. Fire to a full fuse (see recommendation below). Please remember that any "generic" schedule is meant as a starting point. Your project, your kiln and your desired results are all variables that will likely be reasons to adjust this schedule. Remember to fuse and anneal for the thickest part of the glass.
