Instructions

  1. Clean Glass using Glass Cleaner of choice to remove any oils or dirt.
  2. Place the blue and white glass on a flat surface and butt-up the 7" sides. Place MB-1357 Rectangle Egg Tray Mold flat side down on top of the butted glass pieces and use a sharpie marker to trace the curved edges. Cut curves from the markings.
  3. Repeat step #2 on the piece of clear glass.
  4. Smooth out any rough edges where cut has been made and re-clean glass.
  5. Place some SG-402 White Designer Liner and SG-404 Designer Liner Blue on a palette - keep colors separated! Sprinkle each color with AC-310 Silkscreen Medium. Use a palette knife to mix the color to the consistency of sour cream. (If the mix is too thin add more AC-310 Silkscreen Medium or if too thick add more liner color to it. Too thin of a mixture will bleed under the screen and give you a blurred image. Too thick of a mixture will make it hard for the product to penetrate through the holes of the screen and give you blank areas in your screen.)
  6. Choice a Flourish design and lay it on the butted glass pieces. Hold in place with one hand, use fingers from your other hand to apply the mixture, rubbing from the center of the screen out to the edge. Lift a corner to check if you are applying enough color. Use SG-402 White on the blue glass and SG-404 Blue on the white glass. When overlapping the screen from blue to white use both colors of the Designer Liner on the screen. Remove the screen and wash with water (if you can wash right away let the screen soak in warm water).
  7. Allow screened image to dry and place clear glass over screened pieces of glass matching up the curved cuts.
  8. Do a full fuse using a long bubble squeeze (see sample schedule below).
  9. Prepare MB-1357 Rectangle Egg Tray as a mold by drilling vent holes in each egg section; apply glass release to the mold.
  10. Aligned the fused glass piece on top of the mold.
  11. Fire to a slump firing (see sample schedule below).

Note: all firing schedules are subject to modification based on the type of project, materials variations, your kiln's "personality", etc. Fuse and anneal for the thickest part of the glass.
