Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of FN-001 to the front of the plate.
  3. Cut out a diamond shape of paper to apply to the right center of the plate where the manger scene will be with water, blot with a paper towel to absorb any excess water.
  4. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply FN-011 Light Blue start sponging from the paper and work your way out to the edge of the plate all the way around. Come back to the center for the second coat this time adding FN-018 Bright Blue and FN-006 Blue as you work your way out.  You should not see an obvious line where one color starts and the other ends.  Make sure to blend,
  5. Remove the diamond shaped paper and sponge 1 coat of SC-6 Sunkissed where the diamond shape had been. Apply the second coat everywhere inside the diamond area except the very center of the diamond shape.  Lastly apply the third coat of SC-6 Sunkissed to only the outside edge of the diamond area. Allow to dry.
  6. Using a pencil and AC-230 Carbon Paper, trace the nativity design onto the plate after it has dried.
  7. Using a combination of the CB-604 #4 Soft Fan and the CB-106 #6 Script Liner or a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply 2-3 coats of SC-15 Tuxedo to the entire nativity design
  8. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of SC-15 Tuxedo to the back of the plate. Allow to dry.
  9. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 05/06.
