Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of FN-019 Dark Blue to the top and sides of the canvas. Allow to dry.
  3. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SG-302 Snowfall in a dripping type pattern of your choice along the top of the canvas.  You can draw the drips on first if you prefer.  The pencil will fire away.
  4. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan and CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of S-2716 Celestial Blue around the drips and down to about the bottom 1/3 of the canvas.  Be sure to blend the FN-019 Dark Blue and the S-2716 Celestial Blue as you go with each coat so you can avoid an obvious line.  Leave the bottom 1/3 blank at this point.  Use a combination of both brushes to apply and blend the S-2716 Celestial Blue.
  5. Spray the back of the stencils with stencil adhesive and set aside to dry.
  6. Place your stencil over the bottom 1/3 on the canvas in the position that you like. Be sure to avoid the crystals from the S-2716 Celestial Blue if at all possible. After positioning your stencil, apply the SG-501Sculpting Medium in a heavy coat over the stencil.  Be careful to only let this set for about a minute or so.  If the SG-301 Sculpting Medium gets to dry it will chip and flake, if it is to wet, it will splatter onto the rest of the piece.  Carefully peel up the stencil from 1 corner first, and continue to remove. Allow to dry.
  7. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 05/06.
