Instructions

1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.

2. Wet and wring out a blue shop paper towel. Squirt SC-97 Cant-elope, SC-13 Grapel, SC-11 Blue Yonder onto the towel in different sections, keeping them separate.  Fold the towel in half then open and fold the towel in half again in the opposite direction.  The towel should be covered with glaze.  Press onto the owl's wing and pull off.  Clean the towel and repeat for the second wing.

3. Use a damp sponge to remove excess color on the body.

4. Use the CB-106 #6 Script Liner to apply slightly thinned, SC-97 Cant-elope, SC-11 Blue Yonder, and SC-13 Grapel, more SC-11 Blue Yonder in a circular direction to fill in the chest of the owl. Used thinned SC-13 Grapel for the center.

5. Apply SC-11 Blue Yonder to the owl's head -  around the eyes and back of the head. Deepen the color by shading around the eyes with SC-29 Blue Grass. Apply one coat to the back of the head using criss-cross strokes.  Fade the color to SC-13 Grapel on the forehead and ears.  Apply brushstrokes of SC-29 Blue Grass over the Grapel to "dirty the color".  Float SC-32 Bluebeard around the eyes.

6. Use the #6 Script Liner to apply three coats of SC-97 Cant-elope to the eyes. Use the same brush to apply SC-15 Tuxedo to the nose, feet and pupil.

7. Punch out paper circles using the 1" paper punch. Wet the paper circles then stick to the wings. Apply two coats of SC-10 Teal Next Time to the wings. Shade around the edges of the wings with SC-32 Bluebeard. Remove the paper dots.

8. Punch out 1/4" paper circles and keep the negative area. Wet and place the negative circles on the head and apply one coat of SC-15 Tuxedo to the open dots. This is not intended to be solid black coverage.

9. Thicken SC-15 Tuxedo with AC-310 Silkscreen Medium using a palette knife to the consistency of peanut butter.  Use the spider web screen from DSS-0118 Halloween with the shiny side up. Rub the thickened mixture over the screen on the eyes.

10. Use the AC-230 Clay Carbon paper and a pencil or pen to trace the pattern onto the chest. Using the CB-110 #10/0 Liner and CB-202 #2 Detail Liner apply two coats of SC-15 Tuxedo over the design.

11. Clear glaze with NT- Clear.

12. Fire to cone 05/06.
