Instructions


  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of FN-034 Big Sky Blue to just the top of the tray, avoiding going down in the egg wells.
  3. Choose 6 of the wells that you would like to be owls. Using a CB-602 #2 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of the owl colors to the wells. Each owl is different: SC-94 Curry Around, SC-33 Fruit of the Vine, SC-6 Sunkissed, SC-76 Cara-bein Blue, SC-89 Cutie Pie Coral, and SC-9 Jaded are the base colors for the owls. Be sure to overlap the edge over the FN-34 Big Sky Blue to avoid having any bare spots.
  4. Using a CB-602 #2 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of SC-78 Limelight to the other 6 wells. The back of the tray will also be painted with this color. You can do that now or just do it at the end.
  5. With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, trace the owls or sketch your own.
  6. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner and a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, paint in the details of the owls. All of the owls used SC-15 Tuxedo and SC-16 Cotton Tail for the eyes. The SC-94 Curry around owl has SC-88 Tu Tu Tango for the belly and around the eyes and SC-42 Butter Me Up for the beak and feet. The SC-33 Fruit of theVine owl has SC-53 Purple Haze for the belly and crest on its head and SC-6 Sunkissed for its beak and feet. The SC-6 Sunkissed owl has SC-55 Yella Bout It for the belly, SC-5 Tiger Tail for the eyebrow, and SC-88 Tu Tu Tango for the beak and feet. The SC-76 Cara-bein Blue owl has SC-45 My Blue Heaven for the belly and crest, and SC-6 Sunkissed for the beak and feet. The SC-89 Cutie Pie Coral owl has SC-73 Candy Apple Red for the belly and around the eyes and SC-42 Butter Me Up for the beak and feet. The SC-9 Jaded owl has SC-10 Teal Next Time for the belly and ears and SC-88 Tu Tu Tango for the beak and feet.
  7. Once you have put 3 coats on all the details paint the back of the plate if you still need to do so.  Allow to completely.
  8. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 05/06.
