Instructions
- Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
- Using a No. 2 pencil, sketch or trace on the landscape and the house in the bottom right portion of the plate. Draw a white circle for the moon in the sky.
- Usiing a CB-404 #4 Pointed Round, apply 2 coats of SC-16 Cotton Tail to the snow covered hills and the moon.
- Using a CB-404 #4 Pointed Round, apply 1 coat of SC-42 Butter Me Up to the house.
- Using a CB-404 #4 Pointed Round, apply one coat of SC-74 Hot Tamale to the roof of the house.
- Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply 1 coat of SC-35 Gray Hare, make a square around the windows and a criss cross "+" in the inside of the windows.
- Paint the door blue using SC-12 Moody Blue.
- Using a CB-404 #4 Pointed Round, loosely apply 1 thick coat of SC-8 Just Froggy to the trees and bushes. Add stems using SC-34 Down to Earth.
- Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, outline the house using SC-34 Down to Earth. Dilute the color with some water so that you can get a thin line.
- To create the night sky, dip an AC-213 Sponge on a Stick into SC-12 Moody Blue, blot on your palette and then press and turn it against the tree to create a swirl. Continue this process until the entire sky is covered. It is okay to overlap some swirls.
- Using a CB-308 #8 Flat Shader, dip your brush in a small amount of SC-12 Moody Blue and lightly pull the color down from the skyline outward.
- Dab a small amount of SC-12 Moody Blue in the shape of the trees in front of and to the left of the trees to create a shadow effect.
- Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, coat the child's left hand with SC-74 Hot Tamale. Place the child's hand on the bottom left of the platter with the right side of the hand tilting up slightly.
- Paint the child's pointer finger with SC-34 Down to Earth and make eight tiny reindeer bodies and eight tiny reindeer heads - one finger print for each. Each head is above and slightly to the right of the reindeer body.
- Using A CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply 1 coat of SC-15 Tuxedo, make a single line between each reindeer head and body. Paint 2 curved lines like this "( )" on top of each head. Place two small lines coming up and off of each curved line to make the horns.
- To make the legs, continue using 1 coat of SC-15 Tuxedo, and the CB-110 #10/0 Liner. Make two small lines coming out diagonally to the left to create hind legs. Next, make 1 line coming out diagonally downward to the right from the front of the body and one leg coming straight out, and then make a 90 degree right angle downward to give the reindeer the look of flying through the sky.
- Add a black dot to each head to make an eye on each reindeer.
Add one dot of SC-74 Hot Tamale to the nose of the lead reindeer. - Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner with SC-15 Tuxedo, add definition to the "sleigh" handprint. Refer to the photo.
- Lightly sketch Santa in the seat of the sleigh, referring to the photo.
- Apply 1 thick coat of SC-74 Hot Tamale to Santa's hat, mittens and coat. Place one dot of SC-42 Butter Me Up for Santa's face. Dab on a dot of white to the end of Santa's hat as well as between his hat and coat for his hair and behind his mittens as the beard/fur of his gloves.
- Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06.
