Instructions

 

 

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a CB-618 #8 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of FN-001 White to the entire front of plate and 3 coats to back. Allow to dry.
  3. With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, trace the Santa Pattern on the plate.
  4. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of SC-36 Irish Luck to sky area.
  5. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 1 coat of SC-27 Sour Apple and SC-73 Candy Apple Red to the stripes on the hat.
  6. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 1 more coat of SC-27 Sour Apple to the hat stripes. Then while wet, blend in SC-36 Irish Luck, 1 stripe at a time. Also on edges of the hat near the sky, brush in the SC-36 Irish Luck and pull out into sky creating a rough edge.
  7. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 1 more coat of SC-73 Candy Apple Red. Then while wet blend in SC-74 Hot Tamale 1 stripe at a time. Also on edges of the hat near the sky, brush SC-36 Irish Luck into the SC-73 Candy Apple Red and pull into sky creating a rough edge.
  8. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply some SC-36 Irish Luck to the bottom edge of hat, stroking upwards by the white band. Let dry. Water down SC-36 Irish Luck and paint a line over the bottom edge of hat.
  9. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-20 Cashew Later to the face area. Overlap some into what will be white areas of the hat, beard, and mustache. While second coat is still wet brush watered down SC-2 Melon Choly into the cheek and lip areas.
  10. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of SC-16 Cotton Tail to the ball and rim of hat, eyebrows, mustache and beard.
  11. Glazing one area at a time, use a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan and apply 1 coat of SC-16 Cotton Tail to the ball and rim of hat, eyebrows, mustache and beard. While it is wet, using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply watered down SC-55 Yella Bout It, SC-65 Peri-Twinkle and SC-60 Silver Lining to create a little color, toning and shadow in white areas.
  12. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply a thin line of SC-36 Irish Luck between the stripes of colors of the hat. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner apply some smaller, not continuous, lines with slightly watered down SC-15 Tuxedo to same area.
  13. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner apply slightly watered down SC-15 Tuxedo in thin wispy lines around all white areas, nose and mouth. Use full strength SC-15 Tuxedo and paint in eyes.
  14. Use a toothbrush to splatter SC-16 Cotton Tail onto the plate, primarily to the sky and hat
  15. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 1 coat of SC-16 Cotton Tail to make stars and snowflakes. Let dry and apply a second coat.
  16. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 1 coat of SC-16 Cotton Tail in dots around the stars. Use full strength SC-16 Cotton Tail close to the stars and water down white as you go out farther.
  17. Allow to dry.
  18. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06.
