Instructions

  1. Cut out pattern into the three sections. Place appropriate pattern piece on the appropriate piece of glass and trace around it with a marker.
  2. cut out the three pieces of glass using the glass cutter following the marker lines.
  3. Place the three pieces together making sure the edges match up. if they do not, grind them so they fit using a glass grinder.
  4. Place all three pieces together. Place clear glass on top of the three pieces and trace along the outer edges to form the triangle.  use glass cutter to cut out this triangle.
  5. Clean all the glass with the glass cleaner of choice.  Allow to dry.
  6. Tape to the underside of the clear glass so that the pattern shows through the glass on top.
  7. Using the SG-401 Black Designer Liner and metal tip, trace and add detail to the tree.  Fill in all the crows with this same color. Allow to dry.
  8. Place some SG-406 on a pallet about the size of a nickel. Using both brushes where appropriate, fill in the tree and branches. Allow to dry.
  9. Place the three colored pieces of glass on top of the firing paper in the kiln lined up to make a triangle. Turn the glass with the tree on it over three colored pieces so that the designer liner is sandwiched in between the glass. The Designer Liner has no frit in it so it must be capped.
  10. Fire the glass to a full fuse. we used the program below. Please remember that any "generic" schedule is meant as a starting point. Your project, your kiln and your desired results are all variables that will likely be reasons to adjust this schedule. Remember to fuse and anneal for the thickest part of the glass.

  11. When glass has cooled, remove from kiln and clean with glass cleaner of choice.  Allow to dry.
  12. Place in a large shallow bowl that has been treated with glass separator so that the points only bend and the bottom remains flat. This will give you a gradual curve to your piece.
  13. slump fuse this piece.  We used this schedule to slump this piece. Please remember that any "generic" schedule is meant as a starting point. Your project, your kiln and your desired results are all variables that will likely be reasons to adjust this schedule. Remember to fuse and anneal for the thickest part of the glass.
