Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Place a small amount of S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing into a small cup and add a little bit of water to slightly dilute it (about 3 parts glaze and 1 part water).  It should be the consistency of a coffee cream.  Pour this into the cookie jar and roll around to completely coat the interior of the cookie jar.  Drain out the excess glaze and keep cookie jar inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Allow to dry.
  3. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of FN-008 Brown to the lower outside section of the cookie jar except the wings.
  4. Apply 2 coats of EL-130 Sea Green over the FN-008 Brown, 2 coats of SC-16 Cotton Tail then 2 coats of SC-28 Blue Isle over the same area. Staggering coats near the wings.
  5. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2-3 coats of CG-976 Teal Drop over the wings and the head omitting the eye area and beak.
  6. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2-3 coats of SC-86 Old Lace to the eye area. Float SC-34 Down To Earth around the iris.
  7. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-28 Blue Isle to the iris of the eye. Float SC-26 Green Thumb around the iris.
  8. Apply SC-15 Tuxedo to the beak, feet and the pupil of the eye.
  9. Cut a 1 ½” bank stopper in half. Using a AC-212 Sponge on a Stick, pat the stopper with SC-15 Tuxedo press onto the chest of the owl to create scallops on the chest starting at the bottom and work up. Allow to dry.
  10. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 05/06.
