Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Place some FN-304 Black Velvet into a small cup and add a little bit of water to slightly dilute it (about 3 parts glaze and 1 part water).  It should be the consistency of a coffee cream.  Pour this into the vase and roll around to completely coat the interior of the vase.  Drain out the excess glaze and keep vase inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Allow to dry.
  3. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 4 smooth coats of FN-304 Black Velvet to the outside of the vase. Allow to dry.
  4. Using a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, trace on the pattern.
  5. Fill the AC-223 Large Writer Bottle with SG-501 Sculpting Medium use the metal tip.
  6. Apply a heavy bead of SG-501 Sculpting Medium from the writer bottle to the outside edge of each petal, and while still wet, pull into the flower center the SG-501 Sculpting Medium with a slightly dampened SB-404 # 4 Pointed Round. Complete all the petals, buds and leaves in the manor.
  7. Using the Writer Bottle or a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, add the stems, outline and dots to the flower centers. Allow to dry.
  8. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 05/06.
