Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Place some FN-301 Marshmallow White into a small cup and add a little bit of water to slightly dilute it (about 3 parts glaze and 1 part water).  It should be the consistency of a coffee cream.  Pour this into the teapot and roll around to completely coat the interior of the teapot.  Drain out the excess glaze and keep the teapot inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Allow to dry.
  3. Cut out template and position it on face of teapot. Trace around template using pencil.
  4. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of SC-93 Honeydew List inside the traced area. Allow to dry.
  5. Place template on teapot and use a damp sponge to make sure paper is fully adhered to SC-93 Honeydew List.
  6. Sponge off and excess glaze from around the template.
  7. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of FN-301 Marshmallow White to the face of the teapot including spout, handle, and lid. Take care to not glaze the knob. Allow to completely dry.
  8. Using MC-001 ½” Masking Tape and MC-002 ¼” Masking Tape, tape off stripes on the face of teapot including spout, handle, and lid.
  9. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of FN-304 Black Velvet to the entire teapot.
  10. After the third coat of FN-304 Black Velvet has lost its sheen, remove tape and paper template. Do not allow glaze to completely dry when removing tape and paper because the glaze will chip. Allow to dry.
  11. Place some SC-15 Tuxedo on a palette or tile sprinkle with AC-310 Silkscreen Medium. Using a palette knife mix to the consistency of peanut butter. If the mix is to thin add more AC-310 Silkscreen Medium or if to thick add more SC-15 Tuxedo to thin.
  12. Using the silkscreen, screen paste on top of SC-93 Honeydew List. It is important the SC-93 Honeydew List is completely dry before screening or else the screen will pull off the SC-93 Honeydew List. Allow to dry.
  13. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
