Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Slightly thin FN-227 Celery with water (3:1) in a small cup. It should be the consistency of a coffee cream. Pour this into the canister and roll around to completely coat the interior.  Drain out the excess glaze and keep the canister inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp BT-910 Synthetic Sponge. Allow to dry.
  3. With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, trace on the patterns.
  4. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 1 to 2 coats of thinned SC-35 Gray Hare to the bird’s body and wing, staying out of the eye area.
  5. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Mini Liner, apply 1 coat of SC-6 Sunkissed to the bird’s beak and eye opening.
  6. Cut out the inside area of the bird and tail from the pattern, leaving the wing in place. This will act as a mask.
  7. Aligning the pattern with the bird on the bisque, hold the pattern in place as a stencil.
  8. Using AC-213 Large Sponge on a Stick, pounce SC-15 Tuxedo onto the ST-124 Maze Stamp. 
  9. Stamp pattern onto the bird and it's tail. Allow to dry. Remove mask pattern.
  10. Using the SG-401 Black, outline and detail the bird.
  11. Using the SG-405 Green, outline and detail the stems and leaves. 
  12. Using the SG-403 Red, outline the flower and flower centers.
  13. Write on the word “HAPPINESS” on the wing, and using the SG-401 Black, add the lettering.
  14. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 1 thinned coat of SC-27 Sour Apple to the leaves and stems.
  15. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 1 thinned coat of SC-75 Orange-A-Peel to the flowers.
  16. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 1 thinned coat of SC-6 Sunkissed to the flower centers.
  17. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2-3 coats of CG-717 Pistachio to the bottom grass area of the canister as well as the knob of the lid.
  18. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of CG-788 Dutch Enamelware to the background.
  19. Apply clear glaze of choice. Be sure not to dip this piece as the crystals from the glazes could come off and contaminate the glaze tank.
  20. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
