Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Place some S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing into a small cup and add a little bit of water to slightly dilute it (about 3 parts glaze and 1 part water). It should be the consistency of a coffee cream. Pour this into the canister and roll around to completely coat the interior of the canister. Drain out the excess glaze and keep canister inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Repeat the steps for the lid. Allow to dry.
  3. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of FN-221 Milk Glass White to the entire outside of the canister. Allow to dry.
  4. Pencil in, off center for the first circle, approx. 3” circles to cover the canister. They should overlap slightly.
  5. Find the center and pencil in ¾” centers, draw some lines through the center to crisscross the circle.
  6. Pour some FN-224 Key Lime and FN-212 Blue Diamond on to a palette. Load a CB-106 #6 Script Liner with FN-224 Key Lime and tip with FN-212 Blue Diamond. Press and pull a stroke from the outer edge of the circle to the center.
  7. Use the pencil lines as a guide to keep the petals straight. Brush the flowers with 2 strokes of color for every petal.
  8. The blue flowers are brush loaded with the FN-212 Blue Diamond and tipped with FN-222 Indigo, the purple flowers are brush loaded with FN-222 Indigo and tipped with FN-212 Blue Diamond.
  9. Many of the flower petals are overlapped on the edges, keep the flowers tight all around the canister. Where there is space between the flowers make partial flowers with only 1 coat on the petals, that way it will fill in and look like it is behind the full flowers.
  10. If the space is very small then pat some SC-15 Tuxedo onto some of the hamper netting and use as a stamp to fill in the area.
  11. For the lid: using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of FN-221 Milk Glass, Set the lace into the wet glaze, coat again with the FN-221 Milk Glass glaze, pat excess glaze.
  12. Wait to dry to the touch, apply SC-15 Tuxedo, 1-2 coats over the lace and the knob. Pull off the lace before the SC-15 Tuxedo dries.
  13. Float some FN-224 Key Lime, FN-212 Blue Diamond and FN-222 Indigo onto the lid.
  14. For the flower centers, punch out the 1” circles. Use the negative space of the circle, wet with water then place in position over the flowers to center.
  15. Brush each center with the opposing color from the petals, set the lace into the wet glaze from the area, when touch dry, brush over with SC-15 Tuxedo. Pull off the lace netting before it dries.
  16. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, outline and vein petals with SC-15 Tuxedo. Allow to dry.
  17. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 05/06.
