Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of FN-001 White to the top of the plates, body of the teapot, and outside of cup and saucer. Omit the handle and inside of the cup, as well as the indent of the saucer where the cup sits.
  3. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, thin SC-54 Vanilla Dip with water and brush over the white glaze to tint. Allow to dry.
  4. Create the pattern by copying the fabric on a copy machine and, if needed, reduce the image to fit.
  5. With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, trace on the patterns.
  6. Refer to the napkin pattern for color placement and apply 2 coats of color with a CB-106 #6 Script Liner.
  7. When color matching a fabric, altering a color may be necessary. For example, in this sample the reddish flower was color corrected. To do this, take SC-74 Hot Tamale and mix with a little SC-14 Java Bean to darken for the deep red color. Mix SC-4 Salsa with some SC-16 Cotton Tail for the lighter red shade of the large petals. For the leaves that are teal in color mix SC-9 Jaded with some SC-28 Blue Isle. Some leaves are SC-39 Army Surplus and some leaves are half the mixed color and half SC-39 Army Surplus. If the color match is important, it is best to do a trial color on a sample tile.
  8. Refer to the pattern or fabric sample for color placement of the following colors: Flower - SC-25 Crackerjack Brown; Leaves, stems and flowers - SC-76 Cara-bein Blue and SC-79 It's Sage; Large leaf - SC-5 Tiger Tail and SC-36 Irish Luck.
  9. Use SC-54 Vanilla Dip with the AC-223 Large Writer Tip to outline everything, as well as to fill in the flower centers.
  10. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of FN-006 Blue to the backs of the plates, inside of the cup, cup handle, inside of the teapot, and handle and knob of the teapot.
  11. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06.
