Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a RB-144 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of FN-001 White to all three pieces. Allow to dry.
  3. Using a number two pencil, lightly sketch on your daffodils. The sample is painted with four daffodils on the platter, and one large daffodil off center on the egg plate. The pedestal has a stem and leaves on either side of it. Make sure to leave the center of the platter white, or to arrange your daffodils so that the platter will still look nice if you chose to stack the pedestal egg plate on top of the platter as a tiered serving piece. To use the attached daffodil designs, trace them onto your piece and proceed.
  4. Using a CB-408 #8 Pointed Round, paint each daffodil petal with a one stroke method by loading your brush with SC-42 Butter Me Up and a dab of SC-16 Cotton Tail or SC-5 Tiger Tail. If you'd like to add a second coat, you may but it is not necessary.
  5. With your Pointed Round brush, apply 1 liberal coat of SC-52 Toad-ily Green in a wavy and irregular manner in the center of the flower. In the center most part of the flower, add 1 coat of SC-5 Tiger Tail in the same manner.
  6. When painting a daffodil from the side vantage point, apply SC-51 Poo Bear to the outside of the "cup"of the daffodil and SC-5 Tiger Tail to the inside of the "cup".
  7. Paint the leaves and stems with a one stroke method as well. Load your Pointed Round brush with SC-39 Army Surplus and SC-52 Toad-ily Green and flow the contours of the lines you've sketched on.
  8. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner to make the sprigs that come out from behind and around the daffodils. Load your brush with SC-39 Army Surplus and make thin loose lines coming out from the flowers. Add a touch of water to your brush and mix it with the SC-39 Army Surplus so that your lines will be thin. You may want to add them randomly around the pedestal as well.
  9. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply SC-15 Tuxedo and outline the pedestals, stems, and leaves. When you outline the centers of the flowers (where you painted SC-51 Poo Bear and SC-5 Tiger Tail), make wavy circular lines. Also, add some black sprigs around your green ones.
  10. Mix a touch of water with the SC-15 Tuxedo, load your CB-110 #10/0 Liner, and while holding the brush between your thumb and middle finger, tap the brush with your index finger to create a mist of glaze spatter over your entire piece. Allow to dry.
  11. Do Not apply Clear Glaze.
  12. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06.
