Create a patio dinnerware setting using your favorite bisque and the colors and template below.

1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
2. With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, transfer the pattern to the ware. Mark the citrus with the corresponding base coat numbers from the pattern.
3. On a large tile, put out some SC-11 Blue Yonder, SC-27 Sour Apple and SC-28 Blue Isle.
4. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, pick up one of the colors into a moistened brush. Start by applying the first color of choice in crisscross strokes to a portion of the background. Without rinsing the brush pick up the second color of choice and apply it in the same crisscross stroking manner but slightly overlapping the first color to wet blend the color. Continue to the third color in the same manner, repeating the colors throughout the plate's background. Exclude the trim and citrus. Apply a second coat of the same colors over the first coat of colors. A brush moistened with water may help to blend the colors in the background.
5. Apply 2 coats of the colors noted on the pattern to the corresponding citrus in the pattern using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan. Use this brush in a circular stroke to easily complete the round shapes with the fewest possible strokes to prevent streaking.
6. Using a CB-408 #8 Pointed Round, apply 3 coats of SC-11 Blue Yonder to the trim.
7. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of SC-11 Blue Yonder to the back of the plate.
8. Retrace or freehand the triangular sections in the each of the citrus.
9. Start with the limes in the pattern. Using the AC-222 Writer Tip on the SC-39 Army Surplus bottle, outline the sections in the inner portion of the limes. Starting at the pointed centers of each section, pull lines outward from the center using the Writer Tip. If you do this quickly you will get "Skips" in the lines, which is what is desired.
10. To the Lemons in the pattern: Repeat Step 7 with SC-77 Glo-Worm.
11. To the Oranges in the pattern: Repeat Step 7 with SC-75 Orange-A-Peel.
12. To the Tangerines in the Pattern: Repeat Step 7 with SC-73 Candy Apple Red. Add a few lines of this color into some of the Orange sections as well, to darken the color some. Use SC-74 Hot Tamale and apply some lines over the SC-73 Candy Apple Red in the Tangerines sections as well.
13. Apply 1 uneven coat of SC-16 Cottontail around the sections in the citrus, but do not go to the fruit's edge. Leave some of the color to show, creating the rind of the fruit.
14. Thin the colors for use in Step 9 with some water to make them less opaque when painting. Apply only 1 coat of each color but do not try to be to exact when painting the edges or outlines on the fruit as you want it to be uneven in the outlining. To detail the Citrus Fruit and Trim, use a CB-106 #6 Script Liner loaded with the following colors: Limes - SC-39 Army Surplus and darken with SC-63 Popeye's Favorite; Lemons - SC-24 Dandelion and darken slightly with SC-52 Toad-ily Green; Oranges - SC-75 Orange-A-Peel and darken slightly with SC-73 Candy Apple Red Tangerines - SC-75 Orange-A-Peel and darken slightly with SC-74 Hot Tamale; and trim - SC-76 Cara-bein Blue to the squares in the edge (2 coats) and to the line on the edge of the trim where it meets the background color. Use a CB-406 #6 Pointed Round to paint in the squares and CB-106 #6 Script Liner to do the line edge on the trim.
15. To the shadow images, as well as the lettering in the background of the plate, apply a mixture of SC-28 Blue Isle darkened with SC-76 Cara-bein Blue. Mix enough of the SC-76 Cara-bein Blue into the SC-28 Blue Isle to darken the color enough to show up over all of the background colors. Use a CB-106 #6 Script Liner to paint in the citrus shadows. To the lettering in the background, use a CB-303 #0 Flat Shader as you would a quill pen loaded with the same mixture of color.
16. Apply S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing.
17. Stilt and Fire the plate to shelf Cone 06.
