Instructions
- Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
- With a pencil, hold the pencil on the edge of the bottle cap and run it around the edge to get a line where the top ends and the side begins.
- Cut out the moose patterns. Position the patterns and trace around the edge of the moose on the bottle cap.
- Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 3 coats of SC-37 Ivory Tower to the antlers, apply 3 coats of SC-41 Brown Cow to the bodies and legs.
- After drying somewhat, brush the area with water and place the paper cut outs on the proper spaces, blot with a paper towel to remove excess water. Clean up any excess color around the edges of the pattern.
- The paper acts as a mask for the background.
- Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2-3 coats of SC-65 Peri-Twinkle to the background adding in SC-16 Cotton Tail to lighten the color so it is a pale blue. Allow to dry.
- Use the MT-002 Wood Grain Matt to stamp the background. Using a 2” foam roller, roll the matt with SC-12 Moody Blue then stamp the color to the bottle cap.
- Shade around the edges of the moose with SC-58 501 Blues, using the CB-106 Script Liner and thinning the color.
- Remove the paper cut out moose patter before the color dries to avoid chipping.
- Scratch out the eye’s, apply SC-16 Cotton Tail, then dot with SC-15 Tuxedo, use SC-15 Tuxedo for the nose and a thin accent around the moose.
- Using the AC-213 Sponge on a Stick load the sponge with SC-34 Down To Earth. Tap the SC-34 Down To Earth onto the ST-343 Deco Circles Stamp then press the stamp gently onto moose body. Use only small sections of the stamp. Allow to dry.
- Stilt and fire to shelf cone 05/06.
- After firing…. Using a AB-834 3/4” Base Coat brush, apply 1 coat of SS-138 Black Softees to the side of the bottle cap. Allow to dry.
- Mix the MM-106 Steel Metallic well.
- Using an old brush, apply 1 coat of MM-106 Steel Metallic to the sides of the bottle cap. Allow to dry. Apply a second coat of MM-106 Steel Metallic, while the second coat of the MM-106 Steel Metallic is still wet/damp, spritze liberally with MM-305 Rapid Rust. Rust will start to appear in about 30 minuets. Allow to dry overnight.
- Apply 1-2 coats of MM-502 Matt Sealer. Allow to dry between coats.
- Add bottle/can opener for a decorative touch.
