Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Use a pencil to create an outline of a coastal area OR use the enclosed pattern and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper to transfer the pattern to the piece.
  3. Using SG-401 Designer Liner Black, outline the border of the land, compass, and lettering.
  4. With the SG-403 Red Designer Liner, fill in four spires on the compass.
  5. With the SG-404 Blue Designer liner, trace over the river and lake.
  6. With the SG-405 Green Designer Liner, outline the trees.
  7. With the SG-406 Brown Designer Liner, outline the mountains.
  8. With the SG-401 Black Designer Liner, trace over the grid lines.
  9. Allow for all the Designer Liner colors to completely dry.
  10. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner and a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats SW-001 Stoneware Clear to the land, and compass.
  11. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner and CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of SW-201 Turquoise over the water. Take care to not overlap the Stoneware Clear and Turquoise.
  12. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of SW-201 Turquoise to the back of the plate. Allow to dry.
  13. With a damp sponge, wipe off any excess glaze off the foot of the piece.
  14. Place on a high-fired kiln washed kiln shelf.
  15. Do Not Stilt and make sure the piece is not hanging over the kiln shelf.
  16. Fire to shelf cone 5/6.
