Add a Boost of Color to Silkscreen Designs!

Review these easy steps to learn how to add color when using Mayco's Designer Silkscreens!

Method 1

    Step 1: Using S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing and AC-310 Silkscreen Medium, mix a silk screen paste.

    Step 2: Apply paste through the screen onto the bisque; repeat as many times as desired.

    Step 3: Apply glaze colors of your choice to the bisque using the screened image as a template. You may apply full coats or a wash; whichever you prefer.

    Step 4: Using SC-15 Tuxedo and AC-310 Silkscreen Medium, mix a silk screen paste.

    Step 5: Align the silkscreen with the image and screen with the SC-15 silkscreen mixture; you may have to wash  the screen in between if you have repeated images.

    Step 6: Let images dry and apply clear glaze. NOTE: if the clear glaze is difficult to see on the bisque, just add a few drops of food coloring!

    Step 1: Using SC-16 Cotton Tail and AC-310 Silkscreen Medium, mix a silk screen paste. Add a few drops of food coloring to the mixture so you will be able to see the image once it is screened onto the bisque.

    Step 2: Apply paste through the screen onto the bisque; repeat as many times as desired.

    Step 3: Apply glaze colors of your choice to the bisque using the screened image as a template. You may apply full coats or a wash; whichever you prefer.

    Step 4: Using SC-81 Cinnamon Stix (or any darker color of your choice) and AC-310 Silkscreen Medium, mix a silkscreen paste.

    Step 5: Align the silkscreen with the image and screen with the SC-81 silkscreen mixture; you may have to wash  the screen in between if you have repeated images.

    Step 1: Using SC-15 Tuxedo and AC-310 Silkscreen Medium, mix a silk screen paste.

    Step 2: Screen the image onto paper to create a cutout to use as a resist.

    Step 3: Once you have as many images screened as you need, make a copy of the paper so you don't smear the glaze when you apply the paper to the bisque.

    Step 4: Cut out the images and apply to the bisque using a bit of clear glaze or FN-001 White.

    Step 5: Apply the background color over the resists.

    Step 6: Remove the paper and fill the leaves in with the desired colors. To avoid apply clear glaze apply full coats instead of a wash. Let the previously applied colors dry and align the screen with the image; apply the SC-15 silkscreen paste to the leaf screen.

    Step 1: Using SC-15 Tuxedo (or any darker color of your choice) and AC-310 Silkscreen Medium, mix a silkscreen paste.

    Step 2: Apply the paste through the screen directly onto the bisque. Repeat as many times as desired. Let dry completely.

  • Method 4 - Step 3

    Step 3: Once the screened image is completely dry, apply 1 thinned coat directly on top of the screened image. Try to use as few brush strokes as possible so you don't blur the screened image.
