1. With a rolling pin on canvas, roll out a piece of moist clay ¼" thick between wooden slats. Then with your cutter, cut out your dragonfly.
2. With some thin nichrome wire, cut a small piece, form a loop and insert it into the top of your dragonfly. If you do not have the wire then make a small hole.
3. Allow to completely dry out and then fire to bisque shelf cone 04.
4. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust. You will need around 7-8 bisque beads, ready to glaze.
5. Twist each bead onto a skewer; this makes them easier to hold when glazing.
6. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, base coat each bead with 2 coats of EL-118 Blue Grotto. (To hold your skewers secure you can push them into a lump of clay or polystyrene.)
7. When they have dried, with a dabbing motion randomly apply 1 coat of PC-602 White Cascade.
8. When dry apply 1 Coat of EL-117 Waterfall.
9. Repeat the same as above on your dragonfly.
10. When dry, remove the beads, and make sure the holes are clean and that no glaze has gone inside of the holes.
11. Beads should be fired on a bead rack that has high firing wire. Make sure you leave enough space between each bead so they do not touch.
12. The dragonfly can be stilted.
13. Fire to shelf cone 06.
14. When your beads are ready, arrange them as you like. Begin to string or wire them together, placing a spacer bead between each ceramic bead.
15. Secure the end of your elastic by knotting it. Hide knot in between bead and spacer. Remember to secure the dragonfly at the end.
