Instructions
Owl Soda Can Pencil Holder
- See instruction on creating a slab. You'll need a piece for the main cylinder (to fit the size of the soda can selected), 5" x 5" piece for the wings, a circular piece at least ⅛" wider than the cylinder for the cylinder bottom, and a 3" x 3" piece for creating eyes
- Trace the wing pattern on the 5" x 5" piece and cut out.
- Wrap the clay around the soda can. Carve the top of the cylinder to resemble the owl's head and ears.
- For the eyes, cut 1½” circles from ¼” clay using circle template; smooth the edges then score and slip to the cylinder. Score the eyelid with a dull pencil.
- Make a beak out a small piece of clay and slip attach to the owl between the eyes.
- Using a pencil to create "ridges" on the the chest area. Add feather shapes to the chest and the wings.
- Score and slip attach the wings. Allow to dry.
- Bisque Fire to shelf cone 05/06.
