Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Into a small cup, dilute S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing with water (3:1). It should be the consistency of coffee cream. Pour this thinned mixture into the MB-1396 Spot On Pocket and roll to coat the interior. Drain the excess and keep the bisque inverted until the glaze has dried. Wipe away any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Allow to dry.
  3. Using CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2-3 coats of FN-001 White to the exterior of MB-1396 Spot On Pocket. Allow to dry.
  4. With scissors, cut out the shape of the fish from the pattern. Apply some water to the back of the pattern and adhere to the middle of the bisque. Lay a paper towel over the pattern, press or pat to remove excess water. This will act as a mask.
  5. Using a 2" Mini Foam Roller, apply SC-31 The Blues to the MT-002 Wood Grain Mat. Press the mat over top of the paper pattern to the top of the bisque. Remove mat and allow to dry.
  6. With a pencil, draw in the water. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of SC-31 The Blues to the water in circular directions to mimic waves.
  7. Remove the paper fish pattern.
  8. Cut out the fins and the eye from the pattern. Wet the paper and place them on the fish.
  9. Using CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of SC-89 Cutie Pie Coral to the fish, following with 1 coat of SC-2 Melon-Choly.
  10. While the SC-2 Melon-Choly is still wet, lay the eyelash yarn into the wet glaze, winding it around the fish to the center. Apply another coat of SC-2 Melon-Choly over the yarn.
  11. After it starts to dry, pat over the yarn with a paper towel to remove excess glaze.
  12. When the glaze is dry to the touch (or the gloss lessens), using CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1-2 coats of SC-74 Hot Tamale to the fish.
  13. After the shine leaves the glaze, remove the yarn and paper pieces.
  14. Using CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-24 Dandelion, blended with SC-75 Orange-A-Peel, to the fins and the eye.
  15. Using CB-110 #10/0 Mini Liner, pull lines of SC-74 Hot Tamale extending from the body all around the outside of the fish, to resemble spikes.
  16. Place some SG-401 Black Designer Liner on a palette. Using CB-110 #10/0 Mini Liner, outline the eye and fins, dry in the pupil of the eye and pull tiny black lines extending from around the body of the fish for a fuzzy look.
  17. Using SG-404 Blue Designer Liner, draw lines to the waves. Allow to dry.
  18. Using CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing to the MB-1396 Spot On Pocket. Allow to dry.
  19. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
