Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of Snow White.
  3. With a Pencil sketch a rough outline for the feather placement on the plate.
  4. Using a #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of the various Stroke & Coat colors to the feather placement.
  5. Moisten your fingers to separate/style the feather, to make it more interesting.
  6. Lay the feather in the wet glaze spine side up it may be necessary to cut the spine to get it to lay flat.  Brush over the feather with the same glaze that is under it.
  7. When the shine leaves the glaze, using a #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 - 2 coats of FN-009 Black, in the direction of the feathers. So the glaze does not go under the feathers.
  8. Using a #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 - 3 coats of FN-001 White to the back of the plate. Allow to dry.
  9. Optional Background Color: Apply 2-3 coats of Blue Grass and some Down to Earth around the edge of the tile to deepen the color.
  10. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
