Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Place some FN-008 Brown into a small cup and add a little bit of water to slightly dilute it. It should be the consistency of a coffee cream. Pour this into the vase and roll around to completely coat the interior of the vase. Drain out the excess glaze and keep vase inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Allow to dry.
  3. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of FN-014 Antique White to the outside of the vase. Allow to dry.
  4. Put an AC-224 Plastic Detailer Cap onto the Stroke & Coat bottle.
  5. Lay the vase flat and make a large spiral with SC-45 My Blue Heaven off to one side. Fill in the spiral with SC-34 Down To Earth. Make another spiral with SC-78 Lime-Light next to the blue spiral and fill in with SC-34 Down to Earth.
  6. Press some plastic wrap onto the wet spirals of color, and smoosh the color. Fold the edges of the plastic wrap to the center, then pull up and off. The color effect will look like a tie-dye.
  7. Continue around the vase using SC-55 Yell About It in the spiral mix. You may have to wait till the front half of the vase is dry enough to handle to do the back. Fill in all large areas, leaving only small sections of the FN-014 Antique White showing.
  8. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of SC-34 Down to Earth on the base of the vase. Allow to dry.
  9. Stilt and fire to cone 06.
