Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Cut raffia in random lengths and place in a bowl of water to soften.
  3. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of FN-001 White to the front of plate and 3 coats to the back of plate. Allow to dry.
  4. Take raffia out of water and pat dry with paper towel. Working in sections, so as to not let the color dry, use a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan and apply 1 coat of FN-001 White. Lay the raffia into the wet color, smoothing down with your fingers. Brush back over the raffia with the same color. Remove any puddled color by blotting with a paper towel.
  5. Place a heavy coat of SC-76 Cara-bein-Blue, SC-15 Tuxedo and SC-32 Bluebeard onto wax paper. Using a plastic card move the glaze around a little to blend and make rough shapes of tops of hills. Place wax paper onto top of plate and press down. Pull up wax paper and use plastic card to pull glaze more, blending and filling in for the top of the hills. If needed use a brush to fill in hill edge. Remove any puddled color by blotting with a paper towel.
  6. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of SG-202 White Cobblestone to the bottom area. As soon as the wet look is gone apply a thin coat of SC-32 Bluebeard (at top) blending into SC-30 Blue Dawn (at bottom).
  7. Immediately pull off raffia.
  8. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06.
