Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 heavy coat of SC-16 Cotton Tail to the entire outside of the vase.
  3. Mix SC-60 Silver Lining with 2 parts glaze and 1 part water to create a wash.
  4. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of the wash to the outside of the vase. Be aware of your brush strokes because they will show.
  5. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 1 watered down coat of SC-35 Gray Hare to emphasize the movement of the dress (around waist and the movement at the bottom of the dress). First dip your brush in clean water and then pick up the color in order to make the color more subtle. Allow to completely dry.
  6. With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper to transfer the flower image to the dress. Be sure you can see most of the flower from the front, but it can still be a bit offset.
  7. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, paint over the lines of the flowers. Be sure to have variation with your brush strokes; making some lines heavy and thick and others thin and watered down and everything in between. Do not paint on where the dotted lines are on the template.
  8. The lighter colored lines are for the highlights of the flower, which will be painted with SG-501 Sculpting Medium.
  9. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply 1 coat of SG-501 Sculpting Medium to the flowers where the dotted lines are on the pattern.
  10. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 1 watered down coat (just like with SC-35 Gray Hare) to shade the flowers and add color to the dress. Use SC-13 Grapel for the purple dress; SC-29 Bluegrass for the blue dress; SC-52- Toad-ily Green and SC-78 Lime Light for the green vase.
  11. Using a CB-602 #2 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of the corresponding color to the inside of the vases. Allow to dry.
  12. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
