Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using the CB-604 Soft Fan apply one coat of SC-16 Cotton Tail to the top of the canvas.
  3. Cut out the shape of the butterfly and brush a thin coat of water over the space for the butterfly. Place the paper butterfly on the wet surface. Press with a paper towel to ensure the paper is securely in place and edges are pressed down.
  4. Use the CB-610 Soft Fan to apply brushstokes (one coat of each) of SC-11 Blue Yonder and SC-13 Grapel to the top of the canvas.
  5. Use the same brush to apply brushstrokes (one coat of each) of SC-24 Dandelion, SC-97 Cant-elope and SC-75 Orange-A-Peel to the bottom half of the canvas.
  6. Shape the feathers with wet fingers to seperate the feathers.
  7. Apply a second coat of the same colors, working in sections. While the glaze is wet, place the feather onto the color, spine side up so it lays flat.  Press with your fingers to get the feather to lay flat. Sometimes it may be necessary to re-apply the glaze color that is beneath the feather. Space between the feathers is desirable.
  8. Once the shine has gone from the glaze, use the Soft Fanb to apply three coats of SC-16 Cotton Tail. Brush in the direction of the feather.
  9. Remove the feathers and the paper butterfly. With a sharpened pencil, scraffitto the spine line in the middle of the feather. Use CB-110 Liner with SC-16 Cotton Tail to brush in the line.
  10. Use the CB-106 Script Liner to apply two coats of SC-24 Dandelion to the butterfly. Blend into SC-97 Cant-elope, then SC-75 Orange A Peel.
  11. Thicken SC-15 Tuxedo with AC-310 Silkscreen Medium using a palette knife to the consistency of peanut butter. With the shiny side down, rub the thickened Tuxedo over the large butterfly from DSS-0113 Bugs.  Make sure to line up the screen with the painted image.  If needed, use the CB-110 Liner with SC-15 Tuexedo to touch up any areas needing color.
  12. Use the CB-106 Script Liner to apply two coats of SC-15 Tuxedo to the edges of the canvas.
  13. Fire to cone 05/06.
