1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
2. On paper, design the cans you will use on your platter. We’ve included a template for the cans; simply fill in the outline with a design that has meaning to your subject. Our wedding date was 4/25/2009, so our cans depict those numbers.
3. Using a pen, transfer the design to the bisque using AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper. Make changes as necessary to the hair of the two figures to more accurately depict the actual subjects.
4. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply 1 coat of SC-15 Tuxedo to the car and highlight areas around the taillights, on the bumper, outlining the people, and around the “Just Married” sign.
5. Apply 3 coats of SC-15 Tuxedo on the tires and side mirrors of the car, and on the man’s suit.
6. Use a combination of a CB-406 #6 Pointed Round and CB-110 #10/0 Liner to apply 3 coats of SC-73 Candy Apple Red to the car, being careful to paint up to, but not over, all of the black lines outlining and highlighting the car.
7. Apply 3 coats of SC-74 Hot Tamale in the top portion of each headlight, and in the heart on the "Just Married" sign. Apply 3 coats of SC-24 Dandelion on the bottom portion of the taillights.
8. Paint the "Just Married" letters with 3 coats of SC-15 Tuxedo.
9. Use SC-65 Peri-Twinkle to paint 3 coats of the highlights on the bumpers (refer to picture)
10. Paint the license plate on the car with a design representing the state plate the couple was married in. We mimicked the lettering on the license plate by searching the Internet for state plate examples. The tags on our plate represent when the plate was painted – since it’s an expiration date, we didn’t want to have the date of the wedding.
11. Paint the couple with colors that resemble their hair. We used 3 coats of SC-25 Crackerjack Brown and SC-51 Poo Bear for his hair. Her hair was outlined using 2 coats of SC-14 Java Bean, then colored with 3 coats of SC-25 Crackerjack Brown and SC-51 Poo Bear.
12. Paint the back of his neck and the small sliver of her face with colors that resemble the couple’s skin tone. We used 3 coats of SC-46 Rawhide for him and 3 coats of SC-20 Cashew Later for her.
13. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner brush, go over all the black outlines with 2 more coats of SC-15 Tuxedo. The width of the lines can be varied to give the piece a more ‘cartoony’ outline, as shown in the photo.
14. Use SC-45 My Blue Heaven to add the accent marks on the car glass and side mirror glass.
15. Paint can outlines using 3 coats of SC-35 Gray Hare and SC-15 Tuxedo. Paint can labels with colors of your choosing, ours were painted as follows: S&T: SC-34 Down to Earth, SC-80 Basketball, SC-25 Crackerjack Brown;  Four Loko: SC-13 Grapel, SC-77 Glo Worm;  25 Snow Peas: SC-27 Sour Apple, SC-26 Green Thumb;  09% Pure Pumpkin: SC-24 Dandelion, SC-80 Basketball, SC-11 Blue Yonder, SC-74 Hot Tamale
16. Use SG-401 Designer Liner for the strings that connect the cans to the bumper.
17. Apply S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing. Allow to dry.
18. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 05/06.
