Instructions

Bells Ornament:

  1. Cut one of each, Yellow and Clear glass to an oval shape approximately 4.5 x 3.5 inches.
  2. On a palette, using a palette knife, mix SG-401 Black with AC-310 Silkscreen Medium to the consistency of sour cream. If the mix is too thin add more AC-310 Silkscreen Medium or if it is too thick add more SG-401 Black. Too thin of a mixture will bleed under the screen and give you a blurred image. Too thick of a mixture will make it hard for the product to be screened and will leave blank areas in your screen.
  3. Align the bell image from DSS-0106 Winter Holiday, grain side up. Using the thickened SG-401 Black mixture, squeegee the color over the screen.
  4. Using SG-401 Black, write "Merry Christmas" (or another perferred saying) above the screened image.
  5. Once the screened image is dry, fill in the bow with SG-410 Bright Blue, the Holly leaves with SG-405 Green, and the Berries with SG-403 Red. Allow to dry and place the oval clear on top of the yellow glass.
  6. Fire to a full fuse.

Stocking Ornament:

  1. Cut one of each, White and Clear glass to a rectangle, approximately 3.5 x 4.75 inches. Clean and dry the glass.
  2. On a palette, using a palette knife, mix SG-401 Black with AC-310 Silkscreen Medium to the consistency of sour cream. Also mix SG-403 Red with AC-310 Silkscreen Medium to the consistency of sour cream.
  3. Align the stocking image from DSS-0106 Winter Holiday, grain side up. Using the thickened SG-403 Red, squeegee the color over the bottom portion of the stocking. Rinse to clean screen and allow to dry. Realign the stocking image and screen the remaining top of the image using the thickened SG-401 Black mixture.
  4. Once the screened image is dry, fill in the horse with SG-407 Yellow, the package under the candy cane with SG-408 Orange, SG-403 Red for the candy cane, SG-405 Green for the other package, and SG-410 Bright Blue for the stick above the Green package and the ribbon on the horse. Allow to dry.
  5. Place the clear glass on top of the white glass, once dry, and fire to a full fuse.

Snowman Ornament:

  3. Align the snowman image from DSS-0106 Winter Holiday, grain side up. Using the thickened SG-401 Black, sqeegee the color over the snowman image to screen the image. Allow to dry.
  4. Fill in the hat with SG-409 Bright Green, the nose with SG-409 Orange, the scarf with SG-410 Bright Green, the mittens with SG-405 Green, and the skis with SG-403 Red. Allow to dry.
  5. Place the clear glass on top of the white glass, once dry and fire to a full fuse.

I like using this schedule for full fusing my glass. Please remember that any "generic" schedule is meant as a starting point. Your project, your kiln and your desired results are all variables that will likely be reasons to adjust this schedule. Remember to fuse and anneal for the thickest part of the glass.

Segment Rate  Temp  Hold
1. 300 900  15
2. 500 1100
3. 100 1250  120
4.  9999  1475  10
5.  9999  960  60
6.  100  800
7.  200  700
8.  400  100

Once the glass has been fused add the bails on the back using E-6000 Glue or glue of choice.
