Instructions

Bottle

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf con 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Thin (3:1 glaze to water) S-2101 Crystal Clear Brushing in a small cup and pour into the bottle. Roll the glaze around until the internal surface is completely coated.  Drain out the excess glaze and keep the bottle inverted until they glaze has dried. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge.  Also wipe out the glaze in the neck of the bottle.  Allow to dry. (If using dipping glaze, skip this step).
  3. Using a CB-604#4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of FN-001 White to the center area of the bottle on one side only.  Also apply 2 coats to the sides of the bottle.  Allow to dry.
  4. With the small snowflake paper punch, puch out about 7 snowflakes.
  5. Print 2 copies of the snowman pattern.  Cut the 2 copies out. Position the snowman pattern and apply water under the patter with a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan and with a paper towel blot to remove any excess water. Also apply the 7 small snowflakes.
  6. With a silk sponge, load the sponge with SC-96 Aqu-ward and sponge the background around the snowman and the ornament then sponge SC-9 Jade followed by SC-10 Teal Next Time. Do not wash the sponge between colors just go from light to dark.
  7. Remove the snowman pattern and snowflakes before the color dries to avoid chipping.  Allow to dry.
  8. With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, trace on the detail of the snowman and the snowman in the ornament.
  9. Sponge the area behind the snowman ornament with the colors used on the background.
  10. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, load the brush with water then side load in SC-30 Blue Dawn.  Shade both of the snowmen bodies.
  11. With a clean silk sponge, sponge the cheeks of both snowmen with SC-2 Melon-Choly.
  12. Using a CB-404 #4 Pointed Round, apply 3 coats of SC-97 Cant-elope to the carrot nose.  Allow to dry. Shade and detail the nose with SC-81 Cinnamon Stix.
  13. Using a CB-404 #4 Pointed Round, apply 3 coats of SC-96 Aqu-ward to the green stripes on the scarf and 3 coats of SP274 Speckled Hot Tamale to the other stripes.
  14. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, Shade the green stripes on the scarf with SC-8 Just Froggy.
  15. Mix a little of SC-15 Tuxedo to some of the SC-8 Just Froggy and shade the red stripes.
  16. Using a ½" Rake add stripe lines to the green stripes, following the direction of the stripes.
  17. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner and a CB-404 #4 Pointed Round, apply 3 coats of SC-15 Tuxedo to the hat and the buttons on the snowmen.  Allow to dry.
  18. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner. paint in the tree branch above the ornament with SC-1 Cinnamon Stix for the branch 2 coats then then stroke in the pine needles with SC-8 Just Froggy and SC-10 Teal Next time.
  19. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner and a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply 2-3 coats of SG-302 Snowfall to the top and trim of the hat.
  20. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-30 Blue Dawn to the iris of the snowman eyes and SC-15 Tuxedo to the pupil. Also apply dots to the mouth line on both snowmen.
  21. With the larger snowflake punch, punch out about 16 snowflakes then apply to the sides of the bottle. After they dry you may want to mark the centers with a Red Sharpie to find the snowflakes later.  
  22. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of SC-96 Aqu-ward to the inside of the neck of the bottle.
  23. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of SP210 Speckled Teal Next Time to the sides, back and edge of the bottle.  Remove the snowflakes before the color dries completely.
  24. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of S-2101 Crystal Clear brushing to the outside of the bottle.  Allow to dry.
  25. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.

Notepad

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of SC-86 Old Lace to the entire piece.  Allow to dry.
  3. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply a tin wash of SC-81 Cinnamon Stix to the notepad from top to bottom.  Allow to dry.
  4. With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, trace on the pattern.
  5. Using a CB-404 #4 Pointed Round and a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply 3 coats of SC-81 Cinnamon Stix to the pattern.  Allow to dry.
  6. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
